おれは雑草になりたくないな
だれからもきらわれ
芽をだしても すぐひっこぬかれてしまう
やっと なっぱのかげにかくれて 大きくなったと思っても
ちょこっと こっそり咲かせた花がみつかれば
すぐ「こいつめ」と ひっこぬかれてしまう
だれからもきらわれ
だれからもにくまれ
たいひの山につみこまれて くさっていく
おれはこんな雑草になりたくないな
しかし どこから種がとんでくるんか
取っても 取っても
よくもまあ たえないものだ
かわいがられている野菜なんかより
よっぽど丈夫な根っこをはって生えてくる雑草
強い雑草
強くて にくまれもんの雑草
I don't want to be weeds
They are hated by everyone
If they sprout, soon pull out
Barely grow up under the greens,
soon they are pull out if someone find the flower blooms secretly
Everyone dislike them
Everyone hate them
Pile up the solid compost and rot away
I don't want to be weeds
Though their seeds, where do they come from?
Wow, sprout and sprout if they are pull out again and again
They have a strong root and are so stronger than vegetables with great care
Strong weeds

戦死後、小学校卒業時に作った詩集「山芋」が出版された。

His collection of poems "Yamaimo (yam)" , it was made when he graduated elementary school(12 years old) and published after he was killed in the World War Ⅱ.
